The Posey Patch

I finally went around the house and took pictures last night.  It’s taken me a while to find homes for everything and put everything where I want it, but I think I’ve finally finished, except for the 4th bedroom upstairs which right now is full of empty boxes and things that Alyvia has outgrown.  I didn’t get any pictures of Alyssa’s room yet because she she needs to pick up her room first.  And our room isn’t finished yet, so I will finish this week and post pictures of our room too later this week.

When we decided to buy a house, we loved the second house we looked at and put an offer in immediately.  They ended up taking someone else’s offer, which in hind-sight is a good thing, because all of the bedrooms were upstairs which means several trips up and down the stairs each day.  My knees are awful and I think that would’ve deteriorated my knees even quicker.  Also, not knowing what Jason’s health will be down the road, upstairs bedrooms may not have been good for him in the future either.  So then our realtor, Rob Routh from Coldwell Bankers, showed us 3 more houses.  This house we bought was the first of the 3, and we loved it as soon as we walked in the door.  The other 2 houses really didn’t stand a chance.  We lived in our mobile home for 16 years, and I loved it.  I still love it and miss it there.  One of the things that I loved when we got it was that every thing was brand new; no one else had lived there before us.  And that’s how this house felt, too.  Granted, it was built in 1946, so obviously it wasn’t brand new.  But all the floors are new.  The walls are new.  The ceilings are new.  The cabinetry in the kitchen is new.  The fixtures in the bathroom are new.  New windows.  New interior and exterior doors. New roof.  New vinyl siding.   New furnace, new water heater.  So even though the bones of the house are old, every where you can touch and feel is new, and we’re the first to live in it like this.

First I’ll show you the kitchen.  I love it so much.  It came with a dishwasher…my first ever dishwasher and I am totally loving that!  We had to buy the stove and fridge.  We wanted to buy a side-by-side fridge, but there wasn’t enough space.  I still love the one that we got.   Also, sorry the quality of some of the pictures isn’t so great, I took the pictures with my phone.

Next is the living room.  At closing, believe it or not, we actually walked away with a check to us for $233.  So with the money we had for closing plus the money  they paid us, we bought a new bed for us (our mattresses were 18 years old!), dressers (none of us used dressers before- I had my walk-in closet with shelves that Jason built for me, and Alyssa used a book-shelf), and a tv stand/entertainment center.  You will see the tv stand in these pics.  I’ve had my eye on this for a long time and have had it on my secret wish list, so I was very excited to get it!

Next is the bathroom…I love it.  I know…it sounds weird to love a bathroom..but if you know me and my love for Mickey Mouse, you’ll understand.

Next is Alyvia’s room.  When we moved here it was very difficult for me at first to let her sleep away from us in her own room, even with a baby monitor.  At our old house her crib was in our room.  But after 2 weeks of having her sleep with us, I finally got up the courage to let her sleep a room away from us.  Fortunately, the only adjusting to be done was by me, she slept just fine away from us.

And last, but not least, you have the basement.   The basement is a basement.  But at least it’s not the creepy eeby-jeeby kind…ewww.  The best part of the basement is that I finally have storage room for my stockpile that I’ve acquire through couponing!  I can’t wait to fill all the shelves up and have to get another set of shelves!
